At Bridge Referrals, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the care we provide to pets and the support we offer to referring veterinary practices. As demand for our services continues to grow, we’re excited to announce one of our biggest investments yet.

This Autumn, we’ll be opening a brand-new extension to Bridge Referrals, creating space for new facilities, advanced technology and specialist services that will help us care for even more patients.

From a state-of-the-art MRI scanner to a dedicated Neurology Referral Service, alongside a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and rehabilitation suite, this expansion marks an exciting new chapter for Bridge Referrals.

Advanced MRI – Available 7 Days a Week

A key feature of our expansion is the installation of a brand-new MRI scanner, providing advanced imaging seven days a week.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is one of the most advanced diagnostic tools available in veterinary medicine. It allows clinicians to produce highly detailed images of soft tissues, making it invaluable for diagnosing conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, joints, muscles and other soft tissue structures.

MRI is commonly used to investigate:

  • Brain disease
  • Spinal disease
  • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
  • Seizures
  • Lameness
  • Muscle and tendon injuries
  • Joint disease
  • Cancers and some soft tissue conditions
  • Ocular disease

Having MRI available throughout the week means pets can access advanced diagnostics more quickly, helping us reach a diagnosis sooner and begin appropriate treatment without unnecessary delays.

Introducing Our Neurology Referral Service

Alongside our new MRI facilities, we’re delighted to introduce a dedicated Neurology Referral Service.

Neurological conditions often require advanced imaging alongside expert clinical assessment. By bringing these services together, we’ll be able to provide a streamlined diagnostic pathway for pets with conditions such as seizures, spinal pain, weakness, mobility issues and other neurological disorders.

This means referring veterinary practices will have access to comprehensive neurological investigations and treatment planning, all in one place.

A Brand-New Intensive Care Unit

As part of the expansion, we’re also creating a purpose-built Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Our new ICU has been designed to provide a calm, dedicated environment for patients requiring intensive monitoring and treatment. Whether recovering from complex surgery, receiving emergency care or managing critical illness, these patients will benefit from facilities specifically designed to support their recovery. To help maintain our IFSM gold accreditation we are also developing a cat-only ICU to further reduce stress to our feline patients.

The new space will also allow our team to continue delivering the high standard of nursing care Bridge Referrals is known for.

Expanded Kennel and Cattery Facilities

As part of the extension, we’re also increasing our kennel and cattery facilities, creating additional space for patients staying with us for investigations, treatment and recovery.

The expanded accommodation has been designed with patient comfort and wellbeing in mind, giving dogs and cats dedicated spaces where they can rest in a calm, comfortable environment while receiving the care they need from our veterinary and nursing teams.

By increasing our capacity, we’ll be able to support more pets and continue providing the high standard of care that Bridge Referrals is known for.

A Dedicated Rehabilitation Suite

Recovery doesn’t end after surgery or treatment, which is why our new extension will also include a purpose-built rehabilitation suite.

Designed to support pets at every stage of their recovery, the new space will bring together our established physiotherapy service with the addition of a brand-new hydrotherapy water treadmill.

Hydrotherapy is a valuable part of rehabilitation for many patients. The buoyancy of the water helps reduce pressure on joints while providing gentle resistance, allowing pets to rebuild strength, improve mobility and increase confidence during recovery.

Combined with tailored physiotherapy programmes from our experienced team, the rehabilitation suite will support pets recovering from orthopaedic and spinal surgery, managing neurological conditions or living with long-term mobility challenges.

By expanding our rehabilitation facilities, we’ll be able to offer even more comprehensive aftercare, helping our patients achieve the best possible outcomes and return to doing what they love.

Investing in the Future of Veterinary Care

This expansion is about far more than creating additional space.

It’s about investing in the future of Bridge Referrals and ensuring we can continue to provide exceptional referral care for pets across the region.

Our new extension will enable us to:

  • Launch a dedicated Neurology Referral Service
  • Offer MRI scanning seven days a week
  • Expand our critical care facilities with a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Increase our kennel and cattery facilities to enhance patient comfort and accommodate more patients
  • Introduce a purpose-built rehabilitation suite featuring a new hydrotherapy water treadmill alongside our established physiotherapy service
  • Improve access to advanced diagnostics
  • Support more referring veterinary practices
  • Continue delivering collaborative, multidisciplinary care

As construction progresses, we’ll be sharing regular updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses as the new facilities come to life.

We can’t wait to welcome our referring practices, clients and patients into this exciting new space when the doors open in Autumn 2026.
