Janette qualified as a RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse) in 2001 and initially worked in mixed animal practice in Cumbria for 15 years. Between 2013 and 2025 she worked in two large referral hospitals, during which time she gained a certificate in Emergency & Critical Care and then went on to complete a qualification to certify her as a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Anaesthesia and Analgesia. This prestigious credential is the result of years of further study and rigorous examinations, and is held by only a handful of veterinary nurses in the UK.
Janette will lead the anaesthesia nursing team, her role involves designing and implementing anaesthesia protocols tailored to each individual patient, using the latest monitoring techniques and medications to ensure the safest outcomes. She also provides advanced pain relief strategies and perioperative care, helping to ensure that our patients are not only safe under anaesthesia but as comfortable as possible throughout their stay.

She supports the ongoing development of our nursing team, shares her expertise through in-house training sessions, and plays an active role in raising the standards of anaesthesia nursing across the profession.
We are absolutely thrilled that Janette has chosen to bring her knowledge and practical skills to Bridge Referrals. She will be working across all of our referral services, collaborating with our veterinary Specialists and Advanced Practitioners to further our commitment to high-quality, accessible care for the animals of the North East. We look forward to the positive impact Janette will make on our patients, clients, and fellow professionals.
